Reversing Near Miss

In Health and Safety / Alert Bulletins posted on 13th July 2011

On 9th February a driver loading in Corby misjudged his approach and caught his secured trailer door on the edge of the working at height platform.

The driver stopped and inspected the situation. A second driver (from another vehicle) then approached and offered to assist in guiding the driver clear of the platform.

Although the Second Driver was sighted at all times through mirrors and the open trailer curtain, and a conversation had occurred between the 2 individuals, the driver reversed whilst the second driver was in a position of potential danger and harm.
