Can you see the Danger...?
A recent injury to a driver has highlighted the importance of taking a good look around your load before you either move straps or the load itself. The injury to the driver occurred when he pulled on a loose strap, but which he hadn’t seen was connected at the other end to a loose object. This object was catapulted over the top of the load and struck him in the eye. The injury he suffered required his visiting the emergency department at the nearest hospital. A short walk-around his vehicle, and look inside the trailer, could have avoided this.
Take care when working in areas where there may be ‘blind spots’. Always look for any possible dangers before you start.
