Take Care of your Glass and Waste!

A customer has reported recently suffering a large financial loss due to a small piece of glass. The glass caused significant product damage and a complete system shutdown was put in place. The production line underwent a thorough inspection, located and a system deep clean completed before production could resume.

The source of the glass was a broken bottle found in an area where drivers wait with their trucks before being called in to be off-loaded . It is thought the bottle fell from a cab unnoticed and the broken glass was brought in accidentally on the bottom of a shoe or boot or had got caught in the packaging.

Remember:

  • Always dispose of your glass bottles and waste responsibly.
  • Use waste bins and recycling containers to dispose of waste and glass.
  • Ensure glass bottles are stored in a safe place in your cab; don’t leave them in door side pockets where they can fall out, or on the floor of your cab where they may roll or be kicked accidentally when the door is opened.
