Serious Near Miss - Vehicle Rollaway
The driver was attempting to repair his sliding roof from inside the trailer when his truck and trailer had started to move. The driver ran to the rear of his trailer and jumped out of the rear doors and tried to run after the truck to climb into the truck to apply the vehicle handbrake.
The vehicle collided with a concrete barrier which brought the truck and trailer to a stop. Luckily, there were no injuries!
- Driver had forgotton to apply his handbrake
- Truck unit is not fitted with hand brake alarm
- Drivers must be extra vigilant before exiting the cab - ensure handbrake is applied!
