What you do matters...!

This month’s bulletin focuses on what you as hauliers and drivers can do to make a difference.

Whilst there are rules, systems and processes in place at many collection locations, they can still fail.

Therefore the knowledge and common sense of the haulier and drivers, and the need to take responsibility for their own actions is paramount.

Load securing issues

How can the drivers help themselves:-

Safe Zone

• Understand and follow the site rules

• Wear the appropriate Personal Protection

Equipment

o Required for the environment or the

site

o Required for the task

o Required for additional risks identified

by the driver

Site RulesCorrect PPE

• Use the appropriate equipment

How can you help your drivers:-

• Communicate information and requirements before

arrival

• Ensure the driver has the correct equipment and Personal Protection Equipment

• Support the driver when he challenges or reports something wrong

• Manage his performance when he does something wrong

It is only through a combined approach between the site, the loading teams, the driver and the haulier that we can achieve a safe working environment for all.
