Loss of Daylight hours

Now that winter is fast approaching and the days are growing shorter, please remind all Drivers to take extra care when driving at the start and end of the day.

Winter sun is lower in the sky and can be extremely hazardous, especially if you are driving East or West bound.

Incident Reporting

In the unfortunate event of an incident on route please remind Drivers of the following point

Find a Safe Place away from moving traffic (ideally behind barriers)

Be aware of hazards and moving traffic

Remain calm

Call the emergency services if

anyone is injured,

load has exited the trailer

serious damage to vehicles or property

Call your transport office

Record Information of events

Description of incident, including times and 3rd parties involved

Photograph the scene / load / trailer / tractor unit

.Hauliers are reminded that all Incidents should immediately be reported to P&O via their local Operations contact or H&S Officer.

Alert Bulletins

Accompanying this Newsletter are two Alert Bulletins concerning injuries to Drivers caused by not following proper procedure. Procedures and safe methods are put in place for the Drivers protection, these two Bulletins highlight what can happen when Procedures are not adhered to.

3rd Party Sub contraction

Communication and Control is a vital part of our H&S management system. It is therefore worth re-iterating to all hauliers the P&O agreement for 3rd Party sub-contraction. Please adhere to the below illustration and ensure all Traction Providers are fully aware also.
