Truck and Trailer Roll Aways

We have recently experienced a truck and trailer roll away although very luckily there were no injuries or damages caused.

Opposite are two links to HSE articles which relate to fines applied to two companies which also had rol aways resulting in life changing injuries to the two employess concerned.

Quotation from the January article:

"HSE's investigation revealed that the company had failed to assess the risks asscociated with parking on uneven or sloping ground and, as a result, had not identified or implimented practicable controls or safeguards such as the use of wheel chocks and audible handbrake alarm".

When considering risk control to avoid vehicle roll away, we already know the importance of appling trailer park brakes and the use of an audible hand brake alarm within the tractor unit.
